Tuesday, August 21, 2018

New York City passed the Stop Sexual Harassment in NYC Act which requires that employers conspicuously display an anti-sexual harassment rights and responsibilities poster by September 6, 2018, in employee breakrooms or other common areas. The New York City Commission on Human Rights has published the English version of the poster on its website: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/cchr/law/stop-sexual-harassment-act.page

The Act also requires employers to distribute an information sheet on sexual harassment (in English and Spanish) to individual employees at the time of hire or in their employee handbook:  https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/cchr/downloads/pdf/materials/SexHarass_Factsheet.pdf

The NYC Act also requires employers with 15 or more employees to conduct annual sexual harassment prevention training by April 1, 2019. The Commission will develop a training that employers may use.
