Employers Adjust Wage and Hour to Daylight Savings

Tuesday, April 5, 2005

Last weekend it was time to "spring forward." Workers on duty on Sunday, April 3, at 2:00 a.m. will work one hour less because of the clock change.

When daylight saving time ends in six months, employees working a nine-hour shift because the clock is turned back must be paid for all hours worked, and the extra hour must be counted in establishing the hours worked in that week.

Employers should keep these changes in mind when scheduling work and paying wages.
